WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE YOUR SPORT?
A number of things I think but mainly it doesn't judge you on your size and strength but rather your determination and passion.
WHEN DID YOU FULLY COMMIT TO TARGETING THE OLYMPICS?
Probably 2012 when I made my first underage team and discovered it was a real possibility.
WHAT'S BEEN YOUR MOST MEMORABLE PERFORMANCE AND WHY?
There are a number but right now probably 2019 World Champion final. It was an incredibly hard season of training but also discovering how to work as a crew. We would always talk about improving every race throughout the season, and to produce what seems to be a perfect race is an incredible thing to be part of.
WHAT'S BEEN YOUR TOUGHEST CHALLENGE YOU'VE HAD TO FACE IN YOUR SPORT, AND WHAT DID IT TEACH YOU?
I feel like every season there is a new challenge that pushes me to achieve something I wouldn't have thought was possible at the start of the season. But I guess one that jumps out at me was having to learn to scull to make the 2016 Olympic team. And along with this was taking 10 seconds off my 2k erg time. These two achievements I think definitely shaped me into the athlete I am today. It showed me that if I truly set my mind to something, back myself and really decide to make the change, chances are I will get there.
WHAT MOTIVATES YOU? WHAT KEEPS YOU GETTING UP EVERY MORNING?
Stubbornness, and the desire to prove I can achieve the ultimate goal. I want to be the best I can be and the only way to do that is to train the best I can every day. I want to be sure that when I decide to hang up the oar, I have achieved every single thing I was capable of.
